The first of this year's Play on the Pitch encounters took place on Wednesday evening, with the away side emerging victorious for the second year running.

Lee Peacock and Blair Sturrock took charge this year, with 'Peacs' seeing his home team go down to a 3-2 defeat.

It was another tight, but entertaining affair at The County Ground with both teams battling it out for the Play on the Pitch trophy.

Lee Peacock, who managed the home side for the evening, was pleased with the efforts of his side despite going down to a narrow defeat.

"It was enjoyable that's for sure. Everyone went out their with a smile on their face and it was a great night.

"Both myself and Blair tried to make things as realistic as possible, in terms of the warm-up drills and pre-match routine.

"Once the game got going there wasn't too much we could do to change things, so we let them go out and play the game.

He added: "It was nice to spend some time with the fans too. Overall it was a great night and one I am sure those that played will remember for some time to come."
