The Swindon Town FC Study Centre recently played host to 14 clubs from London and the South East of England.
Study Centre Managers from Ipswich Town, Norwich City, Arsenal and Crystal Palcace were part of the group who came to see how the Swindon Town Study Centre organises and runs its Movie Challenge work.
In July the Study Centre ran a three days of Movie Challenges for students from Dorcan Technology College. The students worked on three movies. The first involved Sky News where the students gave a press conference introducing a famous player who had decided to join the Robins. The second project was Phoenix from the Flames involved the students recreating Don Rogers second goal at Wembley in the 1969 League Cup triumph. The third project was to remake of the classic Nike advert Portugal vs Brazil. The students worked in small groups and had to film and edit their movie in one day. They also created the labels and covers for their DVD. The students had a great time and gained a valuable insight in to the world of Apple Mac movie technology.

The Study Centre's summer holiday programme got off to a great start last week with children attending making their own football movies, playing Robo Soccer and meeting the STFC players.
During the first two days the young people attending the course made their own street football movie filming the scenes around the County Ground then creating their film on the centres Apple Mac computers. Other members of the group created "Wallace & Grommit" style animations with modelling clay and using the istop motion program.

There was also an opportunity to build a Lego Robot footballer and play some Robo Soccer. At the end of Day 2 the children all made souvenir booklets which had pictures of their favourite Swindon Town players.

The third day of the course saw the children visit Zurich's Conference Facilities. In the first session we use one of Zurich's training rooms where we play problem solving and team games. .The group then moved down to the training ground where we met the Swindon Town players and the children had their souvenir booklets and shirts signed. In the afternoon we had a Penalty prize competition and played some small-sided football games.
The course for 2 - 4th August is now fully booked.
