After impressing during an initial three month loan spell in November, Zaaboub signed an 18-month deal at Swindon Town.
Zaaboub initially arrived in November 2006 on a short-term contract and made his debut as a substitute in the FA Cup First Round against Carlisle United. After impressing against The Cumbrians he was handed a first full start just a week later against Torquay United.
After putting pen to paper on his new contract, Zaaboub made a pledge to not shave until he had broken his goalscoring duck. He scored just two days later in the 3-1 win over Wrexham.
Zaaboub had previously been on trial with Paul Sturrock at both Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday, and his career history is listed below.
Montereau, France
Zaaboub started his career as a youngster with the Paris club before being scouted to the professional game.
St. Etienne, France - June 1998 - December 2002
A move to French First Division St.Etienne followed in the summer of 1998 and he spent four years with the club working his way through the youth and reserve teams. He made 20 first team appearances before signing for Modena.
Modena, Italy - December 2002 - June 2004
Italy was the next port of call and after a trial at Juventus, Sofiene signed for Modena. Juventus wanted to sign the Frenchman on a six-month deal, but he opted for a longer deal with Modena.
Real Jaen, Spain - June 2004 - June 2005
Zaaboub's football education continued with a spell in Spain although first team opportunities were not forthcoming so a move to Belgium came about.
FC Brussels - June 2005 - May 2006
20 appearances for FC Brussels were followed by several trial spells in England with the likes of Sheffield Wedneday, Plymouth Argyle and Aberdeen.
