Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas has admitted that Lee Peacock could miss out on Friday night's home clash with Portsmouth as the striker continues to be troubled by an achilles injury.

Peacock, who has made the switch back to the front line from midfield, is yet to train in Austria and has been limited to gym work and a series of lengthy bike rides with Fitness and Conditioning Coach, David Morrison.

Malpas is keen for the player to return to action as soon as possible with the countdown to the new League One season continuing, and Barry Corr and Christian Roberts already sidelined.

"Lee hasn't trained yet in Austria and that has probably been the disappointment of the tour.

"The plan was for him to train on Monday morning and then play on Friday a home, but he hasn't been able to join in so will probably miss the Portsmouth game now.

"The most important thing is that he gets the training in before he gets involved with the games. He did all the running in the early part of pre-season but hasn't done much ball work and that's a key part of the process, as well as the match fitness."

Another blow for The Robins was an ankle injury picked up by midfielder Craig Easton towards the end of Monday morning's training session, with Manager Maurice Malpas optimistic about the diagnosis.

"Eastie picked up an ankle injury and hopefully there is no ligament damage.

"He goes in for everything and is an extremely committed player, it's unfortunate but not too serious we hope," said the boss.

Town play their final game of the tour on Tuesday afternoon with Czech side FC Zlin the latest opposition. Another tough test for the players, although the Manager set to make a few changes to the line-up.

"Kwasi Oduro will get another game. We will try and give a few of the others another ninety minutes as we build up the fitness of the players.

Malpas added: "Patrick Kanyuka will get another go and Chris Allen will probably replace Craig Easton in midfield."
