Former Swindon Town midfielder Kevin Watson looks set to miss out on a return to The County Ground next season after being released from Colchester United.

The U's will join Scunthorpe United and Leicester City in League One next term in what looks to be an exciting line-up for the 2008/09 campaign.

Watson spent three years at Swindon after joining from Spurs in July 1996, and made 41 senior appearances before departing for Rotherham United in the summer of 1999.

Also joining Watson through the Colchester exit door are Luke Guttridge, Tom Devaux and Tom Webb.

Former England International front man Teddy Sheringham and goalkeeper Aidan Davison have now retired.
