Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas made two changes to his starting line-up for the visit to Huddersfield Town.
Simon Cox made his first start since making his move to Swindon permanent, whilst Sofiene Zaaboub was preferred to Anthony McNamee on the left flank. Miguel Comminges, who only returned from international duty on Friday morning, started at right back in an unchanged back four.
Swindon made the worst possible start to the game, going behind after just 44 seconds. A free-kick in from the left was floated in and with Ifil's low header falling to Phil Jevons just six yards out, the former Bristol City man made no mistake in firing his side into an early lead.
In response, a shell-shocked Robins side ventured forward for their first corner of the game on six minutes with the centre finding Ifil, although the ball was soon cleared.
Simon Cox started the game brightly and after several good touches, forced another corner on eight minutes although Zaaboub's centre was cleared with ease by the Terriers' defence.
Cox's invention was again on show with a quarter of an hour gone as his angled crossfield ball set Roberts away down the right. Another Swindon attack ensued, although home keeper Glennon was still left awaiting his first save of the afternoon.
Swindon were slowly but surely coming to the game in the possession stakes but failed to test Glennon inside the first half an hour of the encounter. Peter Brezovan's only real activity had been to pick the ball out of the net in what had been a very poor first third of the game.
Phil Jevons struck an effort high and wide on 36 minutes before Sofiene Zaaboub found space on the left but his lofted cross was easily gathered by Glennon.
Half-Time: Huddersfield Town 1 Swindon Town 0
Swindon made one change at the break with on-loan Watford striker Moses Ashikodi replaced by Michael Pook. Lee Peacock began the second half up front alongside Simon Cox, with Pook alongside McGovern in the heart of midfield.
Although unable to match Huddersfield's explosive start of the first half; Swindon did force two corners in the opening four minutes of the second half. It was another corner on 54 minutes that almost forced an equaliser. After a Zaaboub centre had been only half cleared, the ball fell to substitute Pook who dragged his effort wide from 17 yards.
Phil Jevons almost combined for a second for his side on 56 minutes before Christian Roberts and Michael Pook went close at the other end during a goalmouth scramble, with Swindon pressing hard for the leveller.
The Robins almost equalised in spectacular style just before the hour. After Roberts had set off on a purposeful run down the right, the Welshman's lofted cross into the box was met at pace by Zaaboub who saw his left foot volley fly agonisingly wide of Glennon's left hand post.
Jamie Vincent was booked on his return to his old club on 64 minutes after clipping Frank Sinclair as the former Chelsea defender ventured forward.
Luke Beckett should have doubled the lead for his side with 22 minutes remaining. The big striker beat the Swindon offside trap but could only drag his effort wide from 12 yards after a one on one with Brezovan.

Simon Cox became the second Swindon player booked shortly before Maurice Malpas made another change on 74 minutes with Blair Sturrock introduced for Sofiene Zaaboub. Town reverted to a 4-3-3 formation with a midfield trio of Roberts, Pook and McGovern.
Brezovan had to be alert to claim off the head of Chris Brandon on 85 minutes before Swindon made their final change. Anthony McNamee came on for Christian Roberts, with McNamee handed a roving role for the final few minutes.
McNamee's first contribution was to win a late corner which saw the ball eventually played in for Simon Cox, whose glancing header was gathered by Glennon - rarely tested all game.
Despite four minutes of added time, which saw makeshift striker Aljofree's effort from close range fly narrowly over, the game came to a close with Swindon's nine match unbeaten record at an end ahead of Tuesday night's home clash with Cheltenham Town.
