Goals from Nicky Forster, Jake Robinson and Captain Dean Hammond condemned Swindon to a home defeat on Saturday afternoon.

Town named an unchanged line-up for the home clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, with Blair Sturrock supported by Simon Cox and Kaid Mohamed up front.

Chants of 'One Andrew Fitton' rang around The County Ground soon after kick off and with some fans still taking their seats; the visitors motored into an early lead. A long ball through from Andy Whing found veteran striker Nicky Forster and he made no mistake in firing his side ahead. Forster finished well with just three minutes on the clock, with an angled shot from 15 yards creeping inside Brezovan's right hand post.

Brezovan had to be alert soon after with another long ball forward causing problems in the Town defence with Brezovan racing off his line to clear the danger.

With just over ten minutes on the clock a nice move involving Cox, Allen and Mohamed saw Town win their first corner of the afternoon. Allen's corner saw the ball fall for Mohamed, but his left-foot snap shot fizzed over from 12-yards.

Jake Robinson then brought a flying save out of Brezovan, who had been by far the busier of the two keepers in the opening exchanges.

An 18th minute free-kick into the box from Aljofree saw Mohamed try his luck with a speculative overhead effort but his shot was easily gathered by Dutchman Michel Kuipers in the Seagulls goal.

Town finally mustered some pressure with 25 minutes gone although a combination of over-running the ball and misplaced passes saw the home fans become increasingly frustrated.

Chris Blackburn was booked on 28 minutes after hacking down Bas Savage. From the resulting free-kick Dean Hammond found himself in space at the back post only for Blackburn to get back and head off the line. Michael Pook was booked two minutes later for an alleged shove.

Brighton continued to frustrate the home side although with time and space at the back, the visitors made the most of their possession. The lead could have been doubled on 39 minutes with Hammond once again exposing a gaping whole at Town's back post. Hammond's shot was brilliantly saved from the angle by Brezovan with the corner eventually cleared.

Caretaker bosses David Byrne and Ady Williams made their first change three minutes before the break with Kaid Mohamed replaced by J-P McGovern on the left flank.

Town were 2-0 down right on the stroke of half-time. A ball forward was brilliantly dealt with by Savage, who cut the ball back to the edge of the area for Jake Robinson, who composed himself before bending the ball effortlessly into the top corner giving Brezovan no chance.

Blair Sturrock was withdrawn at the break with the Town management making their second change of the game, with Billy Paynter coming on his place alongside Simon Cox in a 4-4-2 system.

The final change of the game for The Robins was an enforced one, with Jack Smith hobbling off the a hamstring injury on 56 minutes with Miguel Comminges entering the fray.

Town had a penalty appeal waved away just after the hour with Simon Cox seemingly hauled down inside the box after tangling with Adam El-Abd inside the box. Miguel Comminges then blazed over from range with Swindon still unable to break down the visitors defence.

Billy Paynter and Simon Cox's front pairing was soon resumed with some promising exchanges between the pair.

Michel Kuipers had to be alert on 70 minutes to clear from a Paynter effort. Brighton soon broke with Nicky Forster almost presented with an opportunity to add a second only for the offside flag to prevent further damage to the Swindon scoreline.

The misery continued for the home fans with Brighton skipper Dean Hammond allowed to breeze through the Town defence. With Aljofree rooted to the spot, Hammond scythed through and unleashed a powerful drive into the roof of the net to make it 3-0 on 73 minutes.

Brighton introduced Paul Reid in place of Tommy Fraser on 83 minutes with the visitors enjoying something of a stroll inside the final ten minutes of the game. Alex Revell was then brought on in place of Bas Savage, with Revell returning to action after some time out following a hernia repair operation.

Chris Blackburn came to Town's rescue for the second time in the game on 87 minutes as his diving challenge denied Reid a certain goal from six yards out before the final whistle on an afternoon to forget for Robins supporters.

The defeat saw Swindon slip to 16th in League One with fans heading home, still awaiting news on the proposed takeover of the club.
