SWINDON Town Ladies went out of the FA Women's Cup at the Fourth Round stage on Sunday afternoon with a spirited performance against high-fliers Doncaster Rovers Belles LFC.
Four first half goals did the damage and Town produced an excellent second half display to limit the visitors to just one injury-time strike to complete the scoring.
From the kick-off the visitors went straight on the attack with Town keeper Robyn Levett making an excellent early stop from Carla Cantrell from close range. Precious Hamilton then tested Levett once again but the Town stopper to the task, saving well.
Doncaster took the lead on three minutes. A free-kick just outside the box was taken Captain Vicky Exley who bent the ball round the wall into the top corner of the net to open the scoring.

Amy Turner then headed over for Doncaster who set the tone for the game, passing the ball well and making the most of the available space.
Carla Cantrell then saw her shot deflected for a corner on 16 minutes with the resulting corner just floating past the back post. Exley then cannoned a shot off the underside of the crossbar and away to safety with the Swindon defence doing well to sustain the pressure.
On 18 minutes John Buckey's Rovers side doubled their lead. An excellent cross from Natasha Hughes on the right found Emily Heckler at the back post and she headed the ball back across into the corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Three minutes later the visitors made it three. Precious Hamilton, who lead the line well for Doncaster, had time and space on the edge of the area and side-footed the ball home into the top corner of the net.
On the half hour Swindon conceded their fourth of the afternoon with Emily Heckler netting her second of the game with an impressive strike from 20 yards.

Immediately after the goal, Swindon went on the attack and could have drawn level. A superb run from right-back Catherine Reid saw her beat two challenges before cutting inside the box and seeing a left foot effort well saved by Caroline Collie in the Rovers goal in front of the Town End.
Town keeper Levett then made another superb stop before the break to prevent Cantrell from grabbing another.

Undeterred, Swindon continued to make every effort after the break and had several chances to pull a goal back.
However, Doncaster too were looking to add to their tally and Vicky Exley saw her effort crash against the bar from a corner on 48 minutes.
Town striker Michelle Rich hit the bar from a free-kick five minutes into the half before Levett produced another stop for Swindon, saving well from Cantrell once again.
Emma Johnson headed wide from a Cantrell cross on the hour with both sides taking advantage of the open County Ground expanses.
Kerrie Keene almost got on the scoresheet for Swindon on 66 minutes but a clearance from Doncaster keeper Caroline Collie cleared the danger.

Cantrell then dragged her shot side for Doncaster with twenty minutes to go with both side making a number of changes in the closing stages.
Several Town players went down with cramp in the closing stages, an indication of just how hard the Swindon Town Ladies side had worked throughout a tough afternoon.
Doncaster added their final goal of the game in injury-time. A one-two between Jessica Hunt and Carla Cantrell saw Cantrell slide the ball under the body of onrushing Town keeper Levett to make it five.
It was a spirited performance from Swindon who can take much credit from the game in front of a supportive County Ground crowd.
